Horace Mann Middle School, John Muir Middle School and Wausau West High School
This grant supported membership of the FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) Service Organization at the middle school level and facilitated activities and service projects for students beyond the classroom.

Peacejam – Future Leaders for Peace
Wausau West High School
Eight students attended the International Peacejam Conference in Denver, Colorado.  Upon returning, students utilized lessons learned and developed action plans addressing diversity, tolerance and peace. Those plans were implemented throughout the community and area schools.  Funds jumpstarted the opportunity with students working throughout the summer to earn the
rest needed.

Starlight Music Masters Series
Wausau East High School
Grant funds supported seven music events throughout the school year, highlighting professional individuals and groups in a variety of music performances, clinics, and master classes for students of all levels. Events were open to the public.

Healthy Eating Active Living Team 7-1 HMMS (HEALTH)
Horace Mann Middle School
Year long experience for middle school students in and  beyond the classroom as to the impact of choices they face everyday regarding life style and health.  The grant involved community members sharing their areas of expertise and hiking an 8-mile trail.

Interacting with Digital Natives
Wausau East High School
Funds purchased a SMART Board for the Wausau East science department.  Science teacher, Lauren Ebbecke followed this opportunity with earning selection for the 2006-2007 Oscar W. Neale Fellowship, which secured the purchase of four additional SMART Boards for her East HIgh department.  Professional staff training on the use and application of SMART Board technology was open to all Wausau area educators.

Hablemos Espanol (Let’s Speak Spanish)
Horace Mann Middle School
This was a replication grant that allowed the continuity of Spanish lessons to Riverview students now in the 4th grade.  Lessons were prepared by 8th grade Spanish students, who then had the opportunity to experience teaching first hand.  Elementary and middle school  students participated in the International Day at Northcentral Technical College with exchange students.
