WELCOME TO THE 2014/2015 SCHOOL YEAR

WELCOME TO THE 2014/2015 SCHOOL YEAR

09/03/2014

Thousands of children entered our school doors this week for the start of school.

Technology continues to move forward in classrooms throughout the Wausau School District. Approximately 2000 iPads will be disbursed amongst the elementary schools (Franklin Elementary already is one to one) and every eighth grade student will be equipped with a Google Chromebook. Chromebooks are also being integrated to high school students. Teachers and students alike will navigate learning with the assistance of access to technology more than ever in the WSD.

Yellow School Bus transportation will see some changes this year as well. All elementary schools will start at 8:30 am and end at 3:30 pm. Children and staff are adjusting to the changes from summer schedules but it is exciting to have our schools full again. Keeping children safe has always been a priority and that remains true today. A focus on healthy food choices continues to be addressed. Over 300 teachers participated in summer learning opportunities to be prepared for the new literacy curriculum. Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Williams reported that across the District, opening day went "very well."

Check out what is new in your child's classroom and Welcome to the 2014/2015 School Year!
